About the Role

As a Live-in Personal Support Worker (PSW) for our in-home senior care company, you will provide compassionate and dedicated care to elderly clients in the comfort of their own homes. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with clients while helping them maintain independence and dignity in their daily lives. As a live-in PSW, you will play a crucial role in delivering personalized care and support tailored to the unique needs and preferences of each client.

Responsibilities:

Personal Care: Assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility support, while promoting independence and respecting their dignity and privacy.

Medication Management: Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals, ensuring adherence to medication schedules and proper documentation of medication administration.

Companionship: Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, engaging in conversation, recreational activities, and hobbies to promote socialization and mental stimulation.

Meal Preparation: Prepare nutritious meals and snacks according to dietary preferences and restrictions, ensuring that clients receive adequate nutrition and hydration.

Household Support: Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as tidying up living spaces, laundry, and light meal preparation, to maintain a clean and safe environment for clients.

Mobility Assistance: Assist clients with safe transfers, positioning, and ambulation, using assistive devices as needed, to prevent falls and promote mobility.

Transportation: Accompany clients to medical appointments, errands, and social outings, providing transportation and assistance as needed to ensure their safety and well-being.

Care Planning: Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to develop and implement personalized care plans that address the unique needs and goals of each client.

Observation and Reporting: Monitor clients' health status, symptoms, and changes in condition, promptly reporting any concerns or observations to the appropriate healthcare professionals or supervisors.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided, including daily activity logs, medication records, and incident reports, in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  1. Personal Support Worker (PSW) certification from a recognized institution or equivalent healthcare training.

  2. Previous experience in providing care to seniors, preferably in a home care or long-term care setting.

  3. Compassionate and patient demeanor, with a genuine desire to help others and make a positive difference in the lives of seniors.

  4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with clients and their families.

  5. Ability to work independently and adapt to changing client needs and schedules in a live-in care setting.

  6. Reliable and trustworthy, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and respecting clients' privacy and dignity.

  7. Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks requiring bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.

  8. Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for transportation, if required.

  9. First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.

  10. Clear criminal background check and vulnerable sector screening.
